About the ordinances:

• The Memphis City Council and County Commissioner are working to pass a joint ordinance to set pipelines back 1,500 feet. You can read the legislation sponsored by Commissioner Willie Brooks and Councilman Dr. Jeff Warren below. This has passed with a Super Majority at the County Commission and awaits final passage at the City Council on September 21st:

• The Memphis City Council is also working to pass legislation that protects the Aquifer and Promotes Environmental Justice. You can read that legislation sponsored by Councilmen Edmund Ford, Sr. and Dr. Jeff Warren here:

• The Memphis City Council has before it a Well Head Protect Overlay District that would only protect areas where MLGW brings water up from the Aquifer. We need all three pieces of legislation to begin having more protection for our community. As provided to the Land Use Control Board, we support it. This was initially written by City Council Attorney Allan Wade.
