On October 12, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) released a Notice of Intent (link to NOI) to build new gas-powered aeroderivatives in southwest Memphis.

To fulfill federal requirements under the National Environment Protection Act (NEPA), TVA is holding one of two public meetings on Tuesday, October 24, from 5 PM to 7 PM CT at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 620 Parkrose Road, 38109. This is a time for you to voice your concerns and ask questions about this project's potential impacts on the environment. Click here to learn more about TVA’s gas buildout and to submit your public comments.

Statement from MCAP: ”Enough is enough,” KeShaun Pearson, president of Memphis Community Against Pollution said in a statement. “Memphis families shouldn’t be forced to foot the bill for TVA’s fossil fuel spending spree. The utility should instead invest in cheaper energy options, like solar power and energy efficiency programs that meet our energy needs while lowering monthly bills.”
